He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.

Mark 16:15

Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.

Go and preach the gospel to all creation.

Go and preach.

Preach.

"But do I have the qualities of a preacher?"

Then excuses keep piling up until we have successfully convinced ourselves that evangelism is the calling of a few, with no effort being made to be God’s chosen vessel.

"It is already difficult living a life that is pleasing to the Most High, so why should I disturb myself with an extra duty of ‘preaching to all creation?"

A common mindset of many Christians and a terrible one to possess.

We sometimes possess this belief that as long as we are part of the ninety-nine, we have no concern for that one to share the gospel, the good news. The good news is the greatest blessings a soul can ever receive, but it is also one of the most difficult gifts to give.

Maybe it is the fear of seeing such a precious gift trampled upon in ingratitude. After all, 1 Corinthians 1:18 does say, “For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.”

In spite of that, we are still mandated to ‘go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation’.

But what if we preach without converting a single soul in our lifetime?

Why do we only face blatant rejection, no matter how earnestly we try?

How do we even pull ourselves up from such blatant rejections?

A lot of questions can arise, but should that really be our concern?

One of my favourite scriptures is Ezekiel 36:26, where God says,

“I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.”

God has the ability to not only soften the heart of any unbeliever but also our hardened hearts that always make excuses to stay away from evangelism.

The beauty of evangelism is that there are diverse ways God has used men and women to preach the gospel to creation. Some evangelised from the pulpit for the lost to come forward in surrender, and others have opened doors for people to reach the pulpit. Some with their voices, others with their actions, but all is done in obedience to Jesus’ last command before his ascension.

Galatians 2:20 says, “I have been crucified with Christ, and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.”

If Christ, who died not for the sins of a few but for all mankind, lives in us, we have to live by faith and propagate His good news to the ends of the earth.

We have been redeemed to show redemption to all men.

This month, instead of finding excuses to stay away from evangelism, open up to God and let Him turn your wheels in the right direction.
