Guided by God

We can learn a lot about guidance from the lives of blind people. With their eyesight cut short, they must rely on other sources to provide sight and direction. It could be a stick, their hand being held, or their hand on the shoulder of the one who sees. Regardless, the blind person has to have absolute trust in the ability of the stick or another human being to direct their steps towards the good paths and away from danger.

So, what does it mean to be guided by God?

Well, in some sense, we’re blind and limited in this world. Surrounded by many unknowns, many fears and many troubles. The uncertainty of which can be overwhelming. But just like the blind, we can rely on God to provide sight and direction. This requires absolute trust in God’s ability and willingness to lead us to the right paths.

Two things must be true for us to believe in God’s guidance: that God is omnipotent, and that He loves us.

Jeremiah proclaims that nothing is too hard for God, who is the all-powerful creator. (Jeremiah 32:17) Isaiah teaches us that God's word always succeeds. (Isaiah 55:10-11) The entire bible is replete with stories of God overcoming humanly impossible situations, displaying immense power, creating miracles that still baffle the wise of this day.

But you know, it's one thing to know that God is powerful, and it's another thing to know that God is powerful for you.

In the years that God took on flesh and walked among humans, He said, “Fear not, therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows”. The powerful God, their ancestors spoke of, now walked among them and showed that He cared. 'Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends."…..  He declared and called us friends.

Beloved, God truly loves us; this great and powerful creator cares for our souls, our bodies and our very lives on earth.

So we can conclude that if God is powerful, and that same God also loves us, then He will lead us to the right paths. He’ll guide our feet to the way of peace, He’ll cause us to lie down in green pastures. Even when we find ourselves in the valley of the shadow of death, He’ll be our light. He’ll be to us the fourth man in the fire, the friend that sticks closer than a brother.

Dear friend, the great and powerful God who loves us says:

“I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you.” - Psalm 32:8

What more can be said?

Cheers!!
