AS WE PRAY

THE AWAKENING

2021-2029

Project Heal

Matthew 26:41

There are two crucial moments in the life of Jesus where he had to pray before encountering them. One was how he was led to fast and pray in the wilderness just before he was tempted- The temptation of Jesus in Matthew 4.

Then the next was when he had to go and pray at gethsemane before his death- The temptation of Man in Matthew 26:36-46.

In Matthew 26:36-46, Jesus and his disciples went to Gethsamane, on the mount of olives to pray. Jesus told them to sit while he goes to pray and before he leaves, he tells Peter and the two sons of zebedee to go along with him and tarry (keep watch) with him. Jesus was greatly troubled as He knew his death was near. He was about to go through the most severe pain and torture for us and so with heavy heart he cried unto God. He prays a sincere wish that what's about to happen would not, but entirely submits to the will of God the Father.

Jesus after praying for a while returns and finds the disciples sleeping and says;

40 Then he returned to his disciples and found them sleeping. “Couldn’t you men keep watch with me for one hour?” He asked Peter. 41 “Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”

Jesus saw them sleeping and queried them as to why they were not praying as such a crucial moment like this. It is quite interesting to note that Jesus told them to sit, keep watch as he went but they slept. Thinking about it, you will easily conclude that the disciples indeed sat and some kept watching while waiting for the return of the Lord, just as we are and eventually slept. When Jesus told them to sit, to keep watch, He expected them to tarry with Him. Three times he returned and found them sleeping so he told them to watch and pray lest they enter into temptation.

Watch (Matthew 26:41)- See, Look, Have in mind, Be aware, for greater trials are coming on.

Pray (Matthew 26:41) for the times ahead are evil and not to sound like a prophet of doom, I may just have to say that they are about to be more evil. Darker days are coming. The end is near and there are coming, certain temptations which if we don’t deliberately pray, we will fall and fail. Jesus charged his disciples to pray that they might not enter into temptation - that is, into deep "trials and afflictions," or, more probably, into scenes and dangers that would tempt them to deny him or even sleep.

Watch and pray - Seek strength from God by supplication, in view of the thickening calamities that are coming. We must watch and pray as Jesus commands so we do not enter into temptation so that we will not be oppressed with these trials of our faith and deny Jesus. For this reason, even before Jesus gets into gethsemane to pray, he reveals to Peter that He will deny him three times when the temptation befalls him.

The word "temptation" here properly means what would test their faith in the approaching calamities. There will be lots of issues that will test our faith. Our faith in God will be tried and tested through intense trials and, in view of that, Jesus exhorted them to pray that they might not so enter temptation as to be overcome by it and fall.

The spirit indeed is willing but the flesh is weak He says. The mind, the heart is ready and disposed to bear these trials, but the "flesh," the natural feelings, through the fear of danger, is weak, and will be likely to lead us astray when the trial comes. This is God’s message to us, to be on guard and pray lest the weakness of human nature should be insufficient to sustain us in the hour of their temptation.

When we pray, we gain strength and build our most holy faith in God. Our greatest tool in these times is to pray. We must pray intensively and continuously, relying on God to keep us till He returns.

OUR MESSAGE

Pray for there is coming a great persecution and you must stand for Jesus.

Pray for there is coming a trial of our faith and we must not fail.

Pray against the desires of the flesh- money, etc just like Judas should not take us away from Jesus.

AS WE PRAY is our solution to overcome the world and the enemy. We are the army of the Lord, interceding for souls and nations for His coming. We must always be on guard and pray.

This is our year to tell believers to PRAY!

There is coming, a kind of temptation which will shake our faith if not careful so we must Watch and Pray.

Tell them to be on guard.

Tell them to be alert.

Tell them to keep praying.

THE GREAT AWAKENING IS NOW!

Prepare the church for His coming.

Stir up God consciousness.

Ignite intimacy with the Holy Spirit.
